Operation Christmas Child

The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to provide God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world, and together with the local church worldwide, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.  Since 1993, more than 178 million children in more than 150 countries have received an Operation Christmas Child shoebox. The project delivers not only the joy of what, for many kids, is their first gift ever, but also gives them a tangible expression of God’s love.  This whole process is made possible by caring individuals who pack shoeboxes full of quality gifts for children in need.

In November, our church serves as a drop off location for churches and anyone in our area who wants to pack a box.  We also send a team to Dallas to volunteer in the processing center, getting shoeboxes ready to be shipped overseas.  We also have a team of ladies who prepare shoeboxes all year long to be ready to go in November.  You can be a part of making Christmas special for children around the world.

You can be preparing all year by shopping now for school supplies and other items on sale to pack in your shoe box.

Packing Your Shoebox

October - November
From children to seniors, people pack shoebox gifts each year to bless children in need around the world. Parents often use the project to teach their kids about giving. Year round volunteers support these efforts across the country.

Collection

November
Churches and groups of all sizes pack and collect boxes from their communities. FBC Rockport serves as a drop-off location for shoeboxes for the upper coastal bend the third week in November of every year.

Shipping

December
Thousands of volunteers serve annually inspecting and preparing the shoeboxes for international shipping at the OCC regional collection centers. Every hour work stops for a few minutes to pray for the children who will receive the boxes.
