I love the Lord Jesus Christ with all my heart, and I long to be like him in all things. I strive to be an authentic follower of Christ in my family, with my friends, and as I discharge the duties of my calling. I am blessed to be the pastor of this church, where I believe God is doing amazing things.
I grew up in Cleburne, Texas and graduated high school in 1989. I surrendered to the ministry when I was 18, and after graduation I attended Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas. I received my undergraduate degree in English with a minor in Speech Communication. It was there at Howard Payne that I met and fell in love with my best friend, Kim. We were married in San Antonio in 1993. We both attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, where I received a Master of Divinity with Biblical Languages. I served in student ministry for ten years until the Lord saw fit to lead me into the pastorate. Currently I am a student at B. H. Carrol Theological Institute where I am pursuing a PhD in Pastoral Leadership. Kim and I have a son, Michael, and a daughter, Kathryn.
I enjoy reading, traveling, all kinds of music, playing games, and spending time with family and friends. I have a deep affection for Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee, genuine Texas chili, and home-made vanilla ice cream. I love to go fishing on your boat.
I grew up in Arlington, Texas and graduated from Lamar High School in 1986. I attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas, where I received a bachelor of arts in business administration. During my time at Baylor I responded to God's call on my life in the area of christian education. I attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, where I received a Master of Arts in Religious Education. I have served churches in Derby, Kansas; Midland, Texas and Vernon, Texas before coming to Rockport in 2011. My wife Laura and I met on the very first day at Baylor. We started dating our senior year and were married in 1993. Laura and I have a daughter Meredith and a son Drew.
I enjoy relaxing at home with my family, playing games (my wife likes finding new and unusual games from other countries), computers, and woodworking. I love the Cowboys and the Baylor Bears. I enjoy Dr. Pepper and Blue Bell ice cream. Now that I have moved to Rockport, I am learning to fish.
I was born and raised in Augusta, Georgia. I grew up with godly, loving parents that raised my sister and I in a strong Christian home. It was at the age of 12 that I felt the Holy Spirit convicting my heart, and I gave my life to Christ. Later in 9th grade, I felt like the Lord was calling me into some form of ministry. I graduated high school from Augusta Christian Schools in 2001. After high school, I attended college at Augusta State University, and I also began working with the youth ministry at my church. It was during those years in college that I felt a passion towards youth ministry. I graduated from ASU with a BA in Communications in May 2006. That same summer, I married my high school sweetheart Hollie in Augusta. Just a few weeks later our brand new family picked up and moved to Fort Worth, Texas, so I could attend Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. I graduated from Southwestern with a Master of Divinity in May 2009. In June 2009, I was called to serve as Youth Pastor.
I enjoy relaxing, trying out all the new recipes my wife cooks, spending time and playing games with family and friends, but most importantly, cheering on the San Francisco 49ers. Since moving to Texas, I’ve missed the true sweet tea of Georgia, but I have become somewhat addicted to Dr Pepper in its stead.
I am from Refugio, Texas. I was saved at the spunky age of 13 and knew I wanted to serve God in music in some shape or form. I was blessed to be a member of the Texas Baptist All State Youth Choir for 2 years while in high school. This paved the way for going to college at Hardin Simmons University as a Music Education major. After many years and happenings in life, I received my Bachelor’s degree in Christian Studies (minor in Music) from Howard Payne University in 2006. I moved to Rockport in 2014 to teach Choir at Rockport-Fulton High School after having a variety of wonderful experiences teaching in several school districts in South Texas as a band director. My husband and I joined First Baptist Church of Rockport in 2016 and immediately became involved in the choir! What a blessing to be here! June 11, 2017, I was called to be the Minister of Choral Worship and Creative Arts! God Is GOOD!!
I am married to a wonderful man, Chris Peterson, who is a 20 year retired veteran of the US Air Force. Together, Chris and I have four delightful children, Jessica, Adam, Brittani, Bethani and one handsome little grandson, whom we affectionally call Little Ricky. ( Ricky Neal Barnhill III).
My passion is for God, my family, my church and my community! My heart is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the language of music. I love to sing, play all sorts of instruments, fishing, and going to the beach!
