Serving others in the name of Jesus

Serving others in the name of Jesus and reaching out to unbelievers so they may hear and respond to the good news of Jesus are important parts of a Christian’s life. First Baptist Rockport believes that God shapes us to be like Jesus through how we serve and reach others in Jesus’ name.

The King will reply, “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25:40

Regardless of anything else, two things are true: there are those around us who need to hear and respond to the good news of Jesus, and there are those who have needs that we can meet in the name of Jesus. This is the time to allow the light of Christ to shine forth through our lives into the darkness. Our ministers, deacons, Life Group leaders, ministry leaders, committee members, and more have all been actively serving our church and community in recent days. Here are some ways you can serve and reach others during the pandemic:

  • This fall we will have church-wide mission projects that the whole family will be able to participate in and keep safe at the same time, such as Operation Christmas Child, Care Portal, working with Hands of Hope, and more. More details to come!
  • Church Without Walls, a Spanish-only congregation, is once again making plans to meet in our Fellowship Hall on Sunday nights. We will give the details soon.
  • Be sure to invite your family and friends to attend church with you, or to watch us online. It helps us when you share our services on social media.
  • As you become aware of people with needs that the church might be able to help during the pandemic, Pastor Scott wants to hear from you. Please let him know what is going on and how the church might be able to pray and help. Pastor Scott can be reached at pastor@fbcrockport.net.
