The mission of FBC Rockport is to lead all people to be shaped by the love of Christ.
About us
Being Shaped
by HIS Love
The beautiful wind-swept oak trees are a striking and distinctive feature of the Aransas County landscape. Just as the wind and the salt air shapes the oaks, we believe that the powerful presence of God is shaping us with the love of Jesus Christ.
Pastoral Staff
Our Ministerial Staff does not serve by leading, but leads by serving. They offer their lives to serve Christ and His mission, and in humility and love the follow the example of Christ by pursuing the welfare of their fellow servants.
Pastor Scott Jones, PhD
Scott has served as Pastor of First Baptist Church, Rockport since 2008, and has been in full-time ministry since 1993. Scott graduated from Howard Payne University in 1993 with a degree in English and Speech. He received a Masters of Divinity with Biblical Languages from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1997. In 2016 Scott earned a Ph.D. in Pastoral Leadership from B. H. Carroll Theological Institute. Scott and his wife, Kimberlie, were married in 1993 and have two children: Michael and Kathryn. The basis for Scott’s ministry is found in Colossians 1:28-29, “We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ. To this end I labor, struggling with all his energy, which so powerfully works in me.”

Our Purpose
"Our Purpose" comprises a collection of heartfelt letters penned by Pastor Scott amidst the challenging lockdown of 2020.
