Mission Opportunities at First Baptist Rockport in 2026

Operation Christmas Child

Overview: Participating in Operation Christmas Child is part of our church culture. With school starting in August, many retailers will run sales on school supplies and other items ideal for shoebox gifts.
Timeline: Donations of supplies will be accepted beginning July.
How to Help: Bring filled shoeboxes or donate school supplies at the designated collection point.

Honduras Mission and 61 Isaiah

Trip Dates: September 6–12, 2026.
Overview: FBC Rockport will return to Gracias Lempira to partner with Rio de Dios and minister in Cinicera. Activities include village ministry, a visit to the farm and coffee acreage, and a radio station appearance. Transportation and accommodation are included. Translators will accompany the team.
Fundraising: Whole bean coffee is available in dark and medium roast for $12 per bag; proceeds support 61 Isaiah. Mission t-shirts are expected in mid June.
Availability: 4 open slots remain. No Spanish required.

Romania Christmas Mission 2026

Tentative Dates: A 7‑day trip planned sometime between December 6 and December 21, 2026.
Locations: Urziceni Orphanage; Church at Pitulicea; Refugee Church; Group home for the mentally disabled.
Overview: Team will deliver Christmas outreach and support local ministries. Romanian translators will accompany the group. Accommodation depends on team size. Ideal team size is eight people.

Samaritan’s Purse Volunteer Opportunities

Background: Samaritan’s Purse supported our community after Hurricane Harvey and helped build our activity center. They now offer volunteer opportunities across the United States. No special skills are required; on‑site supervisors provide training. Samaritan’s Purse provides accommodation; transportation can be arranged if there is enough interest.
How to Sign Up: Contact the Church Office or Monty Brecheen for details or visit SamaritansPurse.org. The dates are TBD based on how we as a church respond.

Samaritan’s Purse Disaster Response

Samaritan's Purse mobilizes staff and equipment and enlists thousands of volunteers to provide emergency aid to victims of tornadoes, hurricanes, wildfires, floods, and other natural disasters in the United States. We often stay behind after our initial response to rebuild or restore houses for needy families.

Texans On Mission Disaster Response

Texans on Mission (formerly Texas Baptist Men) has responded to every natural disaster in Texas since 1967 and many beyond it, including the Southeast Asia tsunami, Hurricane Katrina and the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Through a diverse array of ministries, Texans on Mission has provided the calm after the storm for millions.
