Connecting with other believers and growing in Christlikeness are essential aspects of a Christian’s life during the pandemic.
First Baptist Rockport believes that God shapes us to be more like Jesus through how we connect and grow as Christians.
It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. – Ephesians 4:11-16
God has not stopped shaping our lives to be more like Jesus or stopped using the body of Christ to accomplish His purposes during the pandemic. How is your life being shaped into the likeness of Christ? How are you connected with other believers for God’s purposes? Here are some ways you can connect and grow at First Baptist Rockport during the pandemic:
- Some Life Groups for adults are meeting in person on Sunday mornings at 9:45 and at other times throughout the week. Some Life Groups are meeting online or providing an online option. There are currently no Life Groups for youth or children on Sunday mornings.
- Pastor Scott teaches the Wednesday night Bible Study online, at 6 p.m. This can be viewed on the church’s Facebook and YouTube pages, both accessible through fbcrockport.net.
- Beginning September 9, we will have in person Wednesday night activities for families. We are starting JAM Club for preschool and children, 6-7:30 p.m., and youth will meet from 6-8 p.m. We are also putting together an adult class so the whole family can attend church at the same time. Watch for more details.
