UPDATE: The next First Family meeting has moved to May 4, 2025 in the Sanctuary at 6:00 pm.
At FBC Rockport, we cherish the opportunity to come together as a church family during our quarterly First Family meetings. These meetings are designed to foster open discussion and collective decision-making, allowing every member to play a vital role in shaping the direction of our church. To ensure a fair and organized process, we follow a clear agenda and adhere to the parliamentary procedures outlined in Robert’s Rules of Order. This approach helps us maintain structure and respect for all voices as we make decisions that reflect our shared mission for all people to be shaped by the love of Jesus.
For a meeting to proceed, we require a quorum, which simply consists of the members who are present. Leading these gatherings with care and wisdom, our Pastor, or a designated representative, serves as the Moderator, guiding the discussion and ensuring that every perspective is heard and considered.
If you or a committee have ideas, proposals, or matters you’d like the church to address, we encourage you to reach out to the Pastor/Moderator well ahead of the a scheduled First Family meeting. This allows ample time for thoughtful consideration. Depending on the nature of the matter, the Pastor may entrust it to a dedicated ministry team, a committee, or the Church Council for further exploration. Alternatively, the matter may be placed on the agenda for an upcoming quarterly meeting or, if needed, a specially called business meeting.
We value your participation and look forward to growing together as a family of faith through these meaningful times of connection and decision-making.
