Sunday: Traditional Worship Service 8:30 am | Praise & Worship Service 11:00 am | Life Groups 9:45 am

The members of First Baptist Church Rockport serve people like you in our community because Jesus proved you’re worth it! We believe our lives have been shaped by God’s love! God wants all people to know Him and how much He loves them! Here is what God wants us to know:

1

The Bible says that we are all sinners, and our sin separates us from God, who is sinless and holy. In our sin we are alienated and far from God.

  • Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
  • Colossians 1:21 “Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior.”
  • Isaiah 59:2 “But your sins have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.”

We all have fallen short of God’s perfect standard. This realization humbles us and opens the way for God’s love to work in our lives.

2

God loves and wants us so much that even though we are sinners and do not deserve God’s love or help, God sent Jesus Christ to take the punishment our sin deserved.

  • Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

God's love is not dependent on our actions or worthiness. Even in our sinful state, God took the initiative to show His love by sending Jesus Christ to die for us. This act of selfless love reveals the depth of His care for everyone. Jesus paid a high price, but he believes you are worth it!

3

The Bible says that Jesus’ death on the cross in our place means our sin is forgiven, and we are invited to accept this gift of God’s grace and trust in Jesus as our Savior.

  • Ephesians 2:8-9 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.”

Salvation is a gift, freely given by God's grace, not something we can earn through our efforts. God's love is not based on our performance but on His unmerited favor. None of us has to make ourselves more acceptable to God!

4

When I trust in Jesus’ death on the cross to forgive my sin, the Bible says God makes peace between me and Him, and He sees me as if I had never sinned!

  • Romans 5:1 “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Through faith in Christ, we are justified—declared righteous in God's sight. This brings us into a state of peace and reconciliation with God. His desire is for a restored relationship with each of us and he has made that possible through Jesus.

5

After I trust in God’s grace and his forgiveness of my sin through the death of Jesus on the cross, I make Jesus my King by turning away from a sinful, self-focused life and turning to God, His will, His word, and His ways.

  • Acts 3:19 “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.”

Repentance involves a change of heart and turning away from sin. It is my response to God's love and grace that leads to a transformed life and the experience of spiritual refreshment.

6

God gave Jesus new life and raised him from the dead, making Jesus victorious over sin and death. God promises that everyone who trusts in Jesus and makes Jesus King will also be victorious over sin and death, living with Jesus now and forever!

  • Acts 13:29-30 “When they had carried out all that was written about him, they took him down from the tree and laid him in a tomb. But God raised him from the dead.”
  • Acts 2:32 “God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of this fact.”
  • Romans 4:25 “He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.”

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

God loves you and wants to be with you! Jesus proved you are worth it!

We invite you to respond to God’s love through Jesus Christ:

  • 1. Believe that even though you don’t deserve it, Jesus died on the cross so your sin could be forgiven and so you could have a new relationship with God.
  • 2. Trust in Jesus’ death on the cross to forgive all your sin.
  • 3. Turn away from your sin and to God, make a commitment to follow Jesus and to do what Jesus says.

If you are doing this right now, we hope you will let us know!

We would love the opportunity to help you learn what comes next in your new relationship with God! You need a church family to come alongside you in this journey! We want to be your family, but if not, we pray you will find a local church to support and connect with you as you grow.
