Worship Needs to be A Part of every Christian’s Life

0

First Baptist Rockport believes that God shapes us through our worship of Him to be more like Jesus.

Therefore, I urge you brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approved what God’s will is – his good, pleasing, and perfect will.  –  Romans 12:1-2

God IS present and extending to you the offer of a relationship with Him. Are you responding to that offer? God ministers to His people as they worship. Here are some ways you can worship at First Baptist Rockport during the pandemic:

  • In Person on Sunday mornings. Traditional worship at 8:30 a.m., Contemporary Worship at 11:00 a.m. Childcare for ages birth through four are available for both worship services.
  • Online at the church’s YouTube page. This page can be reached through the church’s website: fbcrockport.net
  • Worship through giving can be done online at our donations page, through the mail, or dropped off in person to the church office. Thank you for your faithfulness!

For more information about our worship services or how to get involved, contact Matt Sumrall at worship@fbcrockport.net.

Seek the Lord

0

The members of First Baptist Rockport are encouraged to seek the Lord concerning His kingdom purposes.

While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off.   –  Acts 13:2-3″

The church at Antioch sensed that God was leading them to send Barnabas and Saul to the Gentiles as missionaries. They fasted and prayed to discern clearly the Lord’s leading, and then took action in faith and obedience. Every believer should be seeking the Lord about God’s purposes for them, their families, and the church. We are also seeking the Lord about the ministry of First Baptist Church. Will you join us in prayer each day?

Here are some suggestions on how to pray, perhaps one each day of the week:

  1. Ask the Lord to lift your head and eyes so you can remain focused on Christ and not be discouraged or stuck in place. Ask God to use your life as an encouragement to others.
  2. Ask God to reveal Himself to the people of Aransas county. There is a great need in many lives and families for Jesus Christ. Pray that people will come to know and respond in faith to Christ.
  3. Ask God to provide workers for the ministries of our church.
  4. There is so much uncertainty in our society about the future. Pray that our church will consistently trust God with the future and know how to make wise and bold decisions.
  5. Pray for the healing of those who are ill, and that God will renew the strength of the caregivers.
  6. Pray that God will protect, provide for, and bless our first-responders, medical personnel, community leaders, and our local, state, and federal elected officials.
  7. Pray that God will bring healing and true reconciliation to families in Aransas county, and to our country as whole. May God’s will be done!

The Mission of First Baptist Rockport Remains Relevant

0

The mission of First Baptist Rockport remains relevant. The mission of FBC Rockport is to lead all people to be shaped by the love of Christ.

We will know we are leading all people to be shaped by the love of Jesus Christ when we are making disciples who:

  • WORSHIP the Lord with all their heart, mind, soul, and strength
  • CONNECT with other believers
  • GROW in Christlikeness
  • SERVE God and others
  • REACH out to a lost world with the love of Christ

These are difficult and challenging times, but we are convinced that God is present in power revealing Jesus Christ and accomplishing His eternal kingdom purposes. We encourage every church member to seek the Lord continuously and to stay connected with God’s people and purposes. First Baptist Rockport remains focused on accomplishing the mission of our church. We commit to keep you informed and the best place to find information is the here at the church’s website and the Facebook page, and church-wide emails.

Pastor Scott welcomes your questions and comments and would love to hear from you. He can be reached at pastor@fbcrockport.net.

In-Person Worship will Resume

0

This Sunday, August 9, we will return to two in-person worship services. Our traditional worship service is at 8:30 a.m. and our Contemporary service is at 11:00 a.m. Both services will be live streamed on Facebook and will be on YouTube as well.

FBC Rockport is following the State of Texas’ Minimum Health Protocols and we are cooperating with the guidelines given by local officials. A list of our guidelines and procedures can be found at www.fbcrockport.net . In general, we ask that everyone who enters our building:

  1. Practice good hand hygiene and wash or sanitize your hands often.
  2. Observe the recommended six-foot physical distancing guidelines, even in the sanctuary.
  3. Face coverings are recommended. Please remember the order by county and city officials regarding the wearing of face coverings in Aransas County. It reads in part, “All people 10 years or older shall wear a face covering over their nose and mouth when in a public place where it is difficult to keep six feet away from other people or working in areas that involve close proximity with other coworkers.”

Our goal as we move into the fall is to continue to provide online opportunities to connect with our church for worship and Bible Study throughout the week. We also hope to provide in-person opportunities at the church throughout the week in a way that will be safe for all ages. Ministry leaders, Life Group leaders, and Committee Chairmen should be able to let you know when and where in-person meetings are taking place and also how to join in on-line when possible.

Remember that during this time when our church is largely scattered, it is important for you to be doing some things. Regardless of the decisions you are making to keep yourself and your family safe, it is important that you are connecting with your brothers and sisters in Christ for fellowship, encouragement, accountability, Bible study, and prayer. It is important that you gather in some way with the body of Christ for worship on a regular basis. And it is important that you are being the hands and feet of Jesus in our community during this time. The Lord is present in power. Are we allowing ourselves to be a part of God’s activity? Pray for one another, for our community, for our leaders, for our country, and for the cause of Christ locally and away. And come quickly, Lord Jesus.

I love you all and I am thankful to be your pastor.

Scott

Samaritan’s Purse

Samaritan’s Purse U.S. Disaster Relief responds quickly when natural disasters strike, deploying an army of volunteers to come alongside homeowners to bring relief and compassion in Jesus’ Name.  After Hurricane Harvey impacted our community, they came and stepped up to help us recover and rebuild.  They built a building on our campus to house the volunteers and work that they wanted to do.  Samaritan’s Purse faithfully serves amidst disasters here in the United States, but they have many ministries all over the world.

Our church has partnered with Samaritan’s Purse sending volunteer teams to go to disaster sites not only in Texas but nationwide.  The focus will be to develop a group of volunteer teams available to go when the need arises.  Samaritan’s Purse guidelines will determine scheduling and procedures.

Hello Dear Friends!

We are so thankful for you all and are praying for your health and well being. I was reading just the other day about God telling the Israelites not to turn or trust in Egypt or anything or anyone. As the whole world is struggling with this virus, we have only to turn to God. This excited me that maybe, just maybe the world will turn to it’s creator. We are praying so! Please pray that the gospel message will be well received not just here in Bucharest, but all over the world.

May God bless you as you seek ways to Be Still and know that God is God and that He loves you very much!

Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come,
Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heaven and home,
When Jesus is my portion? My constant friend is He:
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me…

HUGGS, Healing Under God’s Grace, ministers to our church family and members of the community who are shut-ins or residents in a care facility.  The HUGGs team makes regular contact through letters, birthday cards, and holiday remembrances.

HUGGs needs people who are willing to make personal visits to shut-ins and residents of care facilities and people who will commit to pray them.
